This great-looking male bird was discovered at 07:41 on Gunnarshaug by the undersigned and the other ornithologists present. It is, among other characteristics, the wheatear-like tail that distinguishes it from the more common, but still quite rare Eastern stonechat of sub-species maurus. The bird originates from regions West of the Caspian Sea and Iraq, and what brought it to Norway and Lista Lighthouse is not known, but here it is!
