In Norway, the Common Redpoll occurs over large parts of the country, except for the bare rock mountains and lowlands from Vest-Agder to the Swedish border. In southern Norway is mostly common in the birch belt.
This species is an irruptive and migratory bird. During the winter months, it mostly roams in northern and central Europe, while the Lesser Redpoll overwinters in southern and southeastern Europe.
