The Coal Tit is mostly a resident bird. In some years, when the population density of is high and in there is absence of food, the birds can make migrations from Scandinavia. You can often see it in flocks with Willow Tits and Goldcrests. It is most common in spruce forests, but it is also found in mixed forests.
This species is common on the standardized ringing at Lista BO, especially in autumn. The figures below show updated data from the bird station:
