REPORT July 2015 (11.08.2015)
In broad terms the month has been much colder, wetter and windier than last year; however as last July was quite atypical it has actually been a more or less average July. A total of 380 birds were ringed during the last two weeks of July on the standardized protocol (334 birds less than in 2014).

Bird Observatory spring report 2015 (01.07.2015)
By Aïda López This spring the numbers of caught birds in the standarized ringing campaign ended below normal average. The weather was especially cold and wet from the last week in April until late June. Especially insectivorous migratory birds (Warblers and Thrushes) were caught in low numbers, while especially Lesser Redpoll and Siskins drew the numbers up. Seabird migration was in general quite good, maybe with a little help of winds from western sector.

Lista Bird Observatory – report May 2015 (09.06.2015)
A total of 470 birds were ringed during the month; 419 in mist nets during the standardized protocol (138 birds less than in 2014) with 51 birds being recaptures and birds caught in spring traps.

Lista Bird Observatory is taken over by Birdlife Norway (21.04.2015)
After 25 years as an independent member organization, Lista Bird Observatory was from April 1st reorganized and the operation of the Observatory became a part of the Norwegian Ornithological Society (NOF), the Norwegian Birdlife partner. The Observatory will now be organized as a separate project in the main association and in some way a NOF national bird observatory.

Tengmalm’s owl – Unpredictable at Lista? (07.04.2015)
Last week we ringed three Tengmalm’s owls (Aegolius funereus) at Lista during the only night that the weather let us open the nets. At Jomfruland Bird Observatory there has been more owls than usual this spring, and they have already ringed 21 owls, most of them Tengmalm’s.

LIBO and Jomfruland Annual repport 2013 (18.03.2015)
A new report from Lista and Jomfruland bird observatories is published. The full report (in Norwegian) can be downloaded. In 2013, especially birds that feed on invertebrates taken from the ground, like Lapwings and Woodcock, got serious problems in the early spring. A portion of the first Lapwings that arrived to Norway, nesting at Lista, died of cold / starvation. It was unusually cold throughout Europe in this period and the first migratory birds that arrived was evidently in very poor condition.
